attitude and aptitude meaning


Closely related to motivation is a person's disposition to language and language learning. If one language suffices a person's  individual needs for communications. The person's attitude to learning, in general. In contrast, there may be individuals who are naturally positively inclined to learning as much as they possibly can. Some individuals are particularly good at learning languages. These people are said to have an aptitude for learning languages. That is, there is something innate that predisposes then to learning languages. Language learning becomes easier if there is a natural aptitude for it.

           Generally people who have an aptitude for languages also have a positive attitude towards. Attitude to particular languages, how ever, is related to the people who speak the language as their mother tongue and then culture. During the pre-Independence times,some Indians had a hostile attitude to the ruling class and this was carried to the language they spoke, English.

     The intrinsic motivation is achieved when the learner identifies with the culture of the target language and has a positive orientation towards it. All government educational institutions in the states opted for the regional language as the medium of instruction. Migrants who settle down in another region usually try to merge with the local communities for survival.

This begin speaking their language as naturally as possible so that they do not stand out. This phenomenon is called acculturation.
